Rachel Walsh MIACP, BSc (Hons)

Rachel Walsh MIACP, BSc (Hons)

Hi my name is Rachel Walsh. I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, accredited by the IACP.  I provide treatment for clients with eating disorders, body image issues, anxiety, stress, depression and low self-esteem.  I also specialise in working with clients who are Neurodivergent – Autism Spectrum disorder and ADHD.

I can help you overcome difficult feelings of guilt, shame, uselessness, overwhelm and anxiety… to name but a few!

Having recovered from an eating disorder myself, and experienced periods of anxiety in my life, I have the unique insight of being a client and therapist.  This inspired me to change my career from the food industry, where I had worked for 10 years, to retrain in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy.  Following graduation, I continued with my studies to complete specialist training in the area of eating disorders.  I have trained with The National Centre for Eating Disorders in the UK and I am a Master Practitioner in eating disorders and obesity.  Most recently, I have taken specialist training in Neurodiversity and eating disorders, with NEDDE (Neurodiversity Eating Disorders and Distressed Eating).  I have also trained in supporting clients with the psychological challenges pre and post bariatric surgery.  I have experience of working with clients who are emotional eaters, binge and compulsive eating, anorexic, bulimic, body image issues and AFRID (Avoidant/Restrictive food intake disorder).

I offer you a safe, confidential, empathic and non-judgmental space to talk about what is going on for you.  The simple act of talking about your current life challenges allows space for you to reflect. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed and stuck right now? Have you created unhelpful coping mechanisms or behaviours that are keeping you stuck or upset?  I know from experience that it’s not just a matter of “pulling yourself together” or “snapping out of it”.  By bringing issues into the open, we are shining a light on what’s working for you and what’s not. Creating awareness allows you to make a choice around changing what you can, or living more easily with what you can’t. I will work with you to rediscover the resilient, resourceful person that you are.  And more importantly, I will work with you to restore hope, for you to believe that life is not hope-LESS BUT hope-FULL.

Please feel free to give me a call at 087 2160165 to arrange an appointment and we can discuss how you are feeling or message me via the message box at the top of this page.  I look forward to hearing from you and helping you move forward.
